Fred Levin and Nancy Livingston—Gala Co-Chairs
This fall, San Francisco Performances marks its 31st year as the city's pre-eminent presenter of music and dance. We invite you to join us in celebrating another decade of wonderful performances on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Mark Hopkins Hotel.
The festivities will begin at 6:00pm with a cocktail reception in the Room of the Dons followed by the dinner, auction and performance featuring composer/pianist Jake Heggie and soprano Talise Trevigne. Dress is black tie optional. Valet parking will be provided.
San Franciscan Jake Heggie is the composer of the acclaimed operas Dead Man Walking and Moby Dick as well as numerous songs, orchestral works and chamber music. Joshua Kosman of the San Francisco Chronicle describes Heggie's compositions as "a sumptuous blend of melodic grace and emotional transparency...they flatter the voice assiduously." Talise Trevigne is a luminous rising star noted for the "sheer beauty of her voice." Most recently, Trevigne appeared as Pip in the world premiere of Heggie's Moby Dick and was hailed for her "silvery, precise vocalism and magnetic stage presence." The pair will reunite for our special evening that includes songs by Jake Heggie, favorite arias and American standards.
The Gala is San Francisco Performances' largest fundraising event and all proceeds go to our education programs targeted at increasing awareness of, and participation in, the arts. Anchored by our artist residency program, which places internationally acclaimed artists in classroom settings and community workshops, San Francisco Performances' arts education programs help expose new audiences to many of the great artists of our time.
Individual tickets for the evening start at $400; table sponsorships begin at $4,000. For more information or to reserve, call 415.677.0326.
